Location:  London

Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office

Position Summary/ Objective

A new role within our European region, the Paid Social Media Specialist will be working closely with our Digital Marketing Leads to deliver world class paid media campaigns on multiple digital platforms.

This role will work across IFAW’s four fundraising markets in Europe: France, Germany, Netherlands and the UK to grow our paid media revenue. Alongside our digital marketing agency, the role will focus on Social advertising but also experiment with new emerging platforms.

Directly reporting to the Digital Marketing & Fundraising Manager (Europe), this role will be optimising existing paid social campaigns, creating new campaigns and A/B testing new hypotheses and platforms. You will work across a variety of channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Pinterest, Spotify and more.


Role and Responsibilities

Working with the Digital Marketing Lead in each country (France, Germany, Netherlands and UK), the role will:

  • Develop, execute, and optimize paid digital campaigns from conception to launch and completion. This will include working closely with our Digital Marketing Leads in the EU and our external digital agency.
  • Building out media buys for various ad platforms and overseeing the day-to-day execution of paid media to support Digital Marketing Leads.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Leads to agree on campaigns, budget allocation and spend, ad grouping and audience targeting.
  • Support and contribute to the creative process of building advertising campaigns.
  • Providing ongoing reports and actionable insights into campaign performance to Digital Marketing Leads (with agency support), including measuring and evaluating relevant paid media KPIs
  • Conduct in-depth keyword and website research, and suggest landing pages optimization
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies.
  • Working cross-departmentally, specifically with the global social media team.
  • Identify and suggest new emerging platforms and avenues for digital outreach


    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience with digital paid media, particularly social media advertising
  • Experience with search and display advertising
  • Ideally up to date Google Ad certifications in Search and Measurement, and or, Meta Certified Media Professional certification
  • Extensive experience in creating digital ad assets and copy
  • Excellent understanding of creating and implementing paid media campaigns with prior campaign examples. Across multiple countries/markets a plus.
  • Fluency in working with Social, SEM & Analytics platforms
  • Goal driven, extremely analytical, with the ability to make data-based decisions and conclusions
  • Understanding of Google Analytics 4
  • Excellent communication skills to present the results of campaign performance verbally, as well as provide clear and concise reports.
  • Basic graphics design skill and experience working with Adobe Creative Suite tools
  • Fluent English, spoken French, German or Dutch is a plus.
  • Interest in IFAW’s programmatic work and global wildlife conservation issues
  • Self-starter with ability to jump into a hectic situation to provide support
  • Highly organized and self-motivated; able to manage and prioritize multiple projects, desire and capability to work in agile, fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a regional team under tight deadlines
  • Problem solver and creative thinker with strong attention to detail
